Friday: Test over Sentence Expanders, Paragraph Order, Transitions - no study guide will be given as this is an application test - the best way to study is to know how to put adjectives, adverbs, and prepositional phrases in a sentence; understand types/examples of paragraph order (sequential, spatial, cause/effect, compare/contrast); know transitions, what they do in sentences, and how to use them in writing paragraphs

Reader's Field Trip and Book Information

Dear Parents/Guardians,



On March 27, 7th and 8th grade students of Hickman County High School whom have read the novel The Hunger Games and completed either an Accelerated Reading test with a score of 70 or better OR whom have read the novel and completed a project that has been approved by his/her English teacher will be taking a field trip to see The Hunger Games at the Cine Theater located in Martin, Tennessee.  This event is to encourage students to read novels.



We will leave the school at approximately 9:00 A.M. and return by 2:15 P.M.  We will see the show at the Cine Theater and then students will be allowed to eat lunch at the restaurant of their choice near the theater.  In order to attend, students must pay $7.00.  This will take care of their admission to the movie and transportation.  However, students will need to bring additional money for to purchase their own lunch.



Please sign below and fill out the required information for your child to participate in this field trip.  This form, evidence of having read the book, and the required money need to be returned to Mrs. Ham (7th graders) or Ms. Parks (8th graders) by Friday, March 9, 2012.

Dear Parents and Students,

As the Reader’s Field Trip letter and permission form states, the 7th and 8th grade teachers are planning a field trip to see the movie The Hunger Games.  In order to attend the field trip, students must read The Hunger Games and either take (and pass with at least 70%) an Accelerated Reading test OR complete a project approved by their teacher that focuses on the novel.

Although our school library does have several copies of the book The Hunger Games, there is a waiting list for those copies.  We are currently working on a way to purchase more, but even then, there may not be enough of the books for every interested student.  With this in mind, we are listing several ways in which a student might obtain a copy of the book.  If money is an issue, please discuss this with your teacher, and we will do our best to work something out.

Listed below are several places you can check for the book, including an estimated cost.  We hope this helps ensure that every interested student has an opportunity to obtain a copy.  Some prices may vary.

Walmart (online) offers new paperback and hardbound copies.  Paperbacks are $5.30 plus $.97 shipping.  Hardbound copies are $9.45 with free to store shipping.  They also have the audio version.

Most local stores have the paperback for $6.99 plus tax.
